| Sri Lanka’s architectural treasures—sky-scraping stupas, large fortified cities with monastery complexes, and enormous reservoirs built to irrigate land considered engineering marvels even today—are riveting connections to the island’s 2,500-year past. The chronicles of Mahawansa, Dipavamsa, and Culavansa provide a written account of the island’s history from these ancient times to the beginnings of the monarchy in the 6th century BC through the European Colonialists conquest in 1815. Our guided Xplore Ancient Kingdoms package will take you on a journey through time to discover these ancient kingdoms of Sri Lanka. |
